After many delays and numerous counts of telling people I was going to do this “thing”, I’ve finally mustered up the creative motivation to start writing about something that brings me joy: film & TV.
As a prologue, my 28th birthday was two weeks ago. I had the most incredible weekend celebrating with my closest friends in NY, and Facetiming with those not in the city. I couldn’t help but feel extremely grateful for my current circumstances and relationships with those around me. I also received a special gift from my girlfriend, a copy of “Better Living Through Criticism” by A.O. Scott, chief film critic at the NY Times, as well as a notebook. Perhaps it was fate giving me a gentle push to change things up in 2022. Hang on to the good things that make me a very lucky human being (relationships, family, clean bill of health), and push on the items that are past their due dates (this blog and other creative hobbies). That’s been my mantra, anyways.
To that end, here we are. This blog serves as my own personal journal on anything filmed entertainment: movies, TV shows, and the occasional anything in-between (comedy specials, concerts, etc). The term “epilogue” refers to a short scene at the end of a movie that concludes the storyline. Oftentimes, the character may be older and reflects on prior events or the fates of other characters. I chose this term as the title because I thought it encapsulated what I wanted this blog to be. Most of my reflections will be brief and summarize what I learned or gained from a particular piece of work, and not intended to be any form of serious criticism. They’re afterthoughts, glimpses into how a work relates to me or my worldview.
So bear with me as I experiment with various formats. I’m sure this blog will evolve over time and I’m excited to see what it becomes!
